Field or common horsetail (Equisetum arvense) is a perennial fern from the Equisetaceae genus, commonly found in temperate climates such as in northern Europe, North and Central America. Its green, densely branched stem grows throughout the spring and fall, and contains valuable compounds like antioxidants and silica. These compounds offer numerous health benefits, including shielding cells from free radical damage and potentially improving the health of skin, nails, hair, and bones.
Horsetail has been shown to potentially benefit those with bone diseases like osteoporosis, as it may prevent bone imbalances by inhibiting osteoclasts and promoting osteoblasts. This process, known as bone metabolism, constantly remodels our bones to maintain their strength. Studies have found that horsetail could limit osteoclast activity and enhance osteoblast function, making it a promising option for addressing brittle bones caused by excessive bone resorption.
Research has shown that using horsetail extract ointment as a topical treatment can effectively improve wound healing, reduce pain, and alleviate wound symptoms. In a 10-day study of 108 postpartum women who had undergone an episiotomy, those who used a 3% horsetail extract ointment experienced significant improvement in wound redness, swelling, and discharge. This is due to the high silica content of horsetail, as seen in previous animal studies where wound closure and skin regeneration were greatly enhanced by the use of a 5% or 10% horsetail extract ointment. Furthermore, horsetail extract has shown potential in treating nail psoriasis when applied as a nail polish, strengthening and improving the appearance of affected nails. More research is needed to fully validate the benefits of horsetail for wound healing and nail health. In addition, the antioxidants and high silicon content in horsetail may also benefit hair health by reducing micro-inflammation.

Sizing (if applicable)
We do not accept returns or exchanges for incorrect sizing of copper jewelry. Please read the description and take measurements to assure that the jewelry piece will fit correctly.

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at cs@acsensionsbyzoe.com.
Missing Items (if applicable)
We are more than happy to send an item that was missing from your order free of shipping. Please reach out to us within 30 days by email cs@acsensionsbyzoe.com and attach a picture of your packing slip.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
