Turmeric (Curcuma longa) root has been used as both a spice and a medicine in Central and Southeast Asia for thousands of years. Turmeric is an essential herb in the traditional Indian healing way of Ayurveda. It has been specifically utilized in the treatment of inflammation, wounds, skin ulcers, itching, stomachache, flatulence, constipation, ringworm and colic. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, turmeric is used to treat liver and gallbladder problems, stop bleeding and ease chest congestion and menstrual discomforts. 

-Curcumin, turmeric’s primary chemical constituent, contains anti-cancer effects that have been studied in cell lines during various research labs.
