-Research has found several potential health benefits of lemongrass. Lemongrass is a rich source of flavonoids and phenolic compounds containing cancer-fighting antioxidants. 

-Lemongrass is a source of iron, calcium, and vitamin C. Iron is an essential component of hemoglobin, a vital substance that transfers oxygen from your lungs to your blood.

-Lemongrass reportedly has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It has traditionally been used as a pain reliever. Lemongrass contains citral, a natural plant compound with anti-inflammatory effects.

-In Jamaica, Lemongrass is commonly called “Fever Grass” as it is also helpful  -in reducing high fevers. 

Potential Allergen: Lemongrass is high in salicylates. Salicylates can cause worsening asthma, swelling, itching, hives, and food intolerance symptoms in people sensitive to salicylates. Also,  In relatively rare cases, a citrus allergy can cause anaphylaxis. People who develop contact dermatitis after touching these fruits are most likely allergic to limonene, a chemical found in the peels of citrus fruits. Citrus fruits include Citrus Oranges and Grapefruit Limonene.

Avoid If: You are Pregnant as lemongrass can trigger menstrual flow, nursing, take prescription diuretics, have a low heart rate, and have low potassium levels.
