Shungite, a black stone found solely in Karelia, Russia, is divided into three types based on the stone's carbon content: Elite Shungite, Black, and Gray Shungite. Elite Shungite is the highest grade with the most beneficial properties, ranging from water purification to EMF protection. It is especially beneficial for physical and spiritual healing.
The Three Types Of Shungite
Some sources differentiate between Elite, Black, and Gray Shungite, while others only distinguish between Elite and Regular varieties. Black and Gray Shungite are both considered Regular Shungite and the former has the lowest carbon content.

Elite (or Noble) Shungite is the rarest form of this mineral, comprising less than 1% of all Shungite deposits. Its organic carbon content is amongst the highest, up to 98%, and contains a considerably greater amount of Fullerenes compared to lower grades.
