Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata), also known as Swamp Verbena, Indian Hyssop or Herb of the Cross, is an herb commonly used for emotional and psychological well-being, especially for conditions relating to anxiety and feeling overwhelmed.  

-Blue Vervain is a nervine, an herbal tonic that can be taken over a while to nourish the nervous system. It can also be taken as needed for acute anxiety, but its strength lies in its long-term nervous system effects.

-Research published in the Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences journal indicated that blue vervain has hypnotic effects. It helps reduce sleep latency, which means it can minimize a person's time to fall asleep and improve sleep duration.

Potential Allergen: Allergies to Blue Vervain are rare, though individuals allergic to nightshade plants may experience allergies. Allergic reactions like mild skin rashes may also appear.

Avoid If: pregnant and breastfeeding, people with iron deficiency, and those taking blood thinners should avoid drinking this tea or consuming any vervain-containing products.

Avoid if: you have kidney disease, as chemical compounds found in vervain can irritate the kidneys and cause inflammation.
